Dog Bites
Have you or your child been injured by a dog? Dog bite victims may be entitled to compensation for their pain and suffering, medical bills, long-term emotional problems, plastic surgery, and other physical injuries.
I am knowledgeable in this area of law. Frequently owners of the dog or their insurance companies will try to blame the victim who is an innocent child, guest, or jogger, that did no wrong. This is why it is important to consult with an attorney before giving a statement to any insurance company. My consultations are free. See Comparative Fault
and Taped Statements
for more information.
Victims of dog bites are sometimes reluctant to bring claims if they have an ongoing relationship with the dog’s owner. Please be assured that as long as there is adequate insurance coverage the owner will not have to compensate you personally. Insurance coverage can come from many sources, depending on the situation, and an attorney will be able to determine this for you. If insurance coverage is determined to be insufficient, my office would not require you to seek recovery personally from the dog’s owner.
Important Tips for Dog Bite Victims
- Obtain medical treatment immediately
- Report the dog bite to animal control for your area and/or the police department. Keep a record of whom you reported it to and when
- Take photographs of the injuries
- Do not sign any papers without consulting an attorney
