Owner Cited After Dog Attacks Neighbor Girl

August 30, 2011 | Dog Bite Accidents

An owner of a dog that allegedly attacked a 6-year-old girl in May was cited last month in the incident.

According to reports, the girl and a friend were riding their bikes in their west-side neighborhood when a dog lunged at them and bit her in the face May 30.

The girl received five stitches from the incident. It was unclear what breed the dog was.

The dog belonged to a neighbor and had apparently gotten loose from the yard. However, reports state the dog’s owner has said she doesn’t believe her dog was the one that bit the girl.

The owner is scheduled to appear in court this month facing citations for letting her dog run loose and for her dog not having a rabies vaccine. The dog was put down after the attack.
