Teen In Critical Condition After Near-Drowning

A young teen is in critical condition after being found at the bottom of a pool Monday at his own birthday party.

According to reports, about 20 teens and adults were celebrating the 13-year-old’s birthday at a community pool at Valley Brook Trailer Park when another child spotted the boy at the bottom of the pool. The boy was quickly picked up out of the pool and nearby adults began CPR until emergency crews arrived on the scene.  It was unclear how long the boy had been submerged. The pool did not have life guards on duty, although they did have pool monitors.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages one to 14.
