A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car early Sunday morning.

The accident happened at South Harding and Ray Streets around 1 a.m.
According to police, the driver was traveling south on South Harding Street when he noticed two people walking in the middle of the road. The driver said he steered left to avoid hitting the pedestrians but hit one of the pedestrians.

The 38-year-old Indianapolis woman was taken to Wishard Hospital in critical condition.
The driver consented to a blood draw and police are awaiting results. The crash remains under investigation.

The driver lost control of the car and rammed into three brick columns outside a shopping center near 65th Street and Keystone Avenue. The car eventually hit a woman sitting on a bench beside one of the columns.

Several employees of a nearby restaurant where Nikki Davis works came to help her out of the rubble. Both she and the driver were taken to area hospitals to be checked out.

The building didn’t suffer any structural damage. Investigators said there is no threat of collapse.

Paul Kallin was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Marion County coroner’s office from injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on the city’s Eastside, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

Kallin was driving his Saturn in the far right lane, when it abruptly turned left across I-465 and was struck in the driver’s door by an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Clifford Perkins, 34, Gary, according to the release from Sgt. Rich Myers, a State Police spokesman.

Perkins and a front-seat passenger in his pickup were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Myers said.

Troopers at the scene were unsure why Kallin’s vehicle suddenly turned left into traffic, saying there was no sign of alcohol use related to either driver.

The three right lanes of eastbound I-465 at the scene were closed for more than two hours, while the crash was investigated and wreckage removed. The left lane remained open.

Trooper Kyle Mitchell was investigating the crash with assistance from State Police crash reconstructionists from the Pendleton District.

According to reports, the accident occurred about 2:55 p.m. when a northbound 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser failed to stop at an intersection and was struck by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The two people in the PT Cruiser were ejected. They were both taken to local hospitals. The woman later died and the man’s condition was unknown. The driver of the pickup had to be extricated and she, along with another passenger, were taken to local hospitals.

According to reports, the 41-year-old man from Carmel was changing a flat on his left-front tire of his vehicle when he stepped into I-65 and was struck by a passing semi about 9 a.m.

He was taken to a local hospital and treated from non-life-threatening head injuries and possible broken bones.

The driver of the semi reportedly swerved to avoid the man and was not charged in connection with the crash.

According to reports, the four were injured when a tank exploded during welding Monday at T& T Fertilizer and Southwest Welding in Goshen, Indiana. The explosion caused approximately 2,000 gallons of ammonia to leak from the tank as well.

A fourth person was treated and released.

The accident occurred about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning near Lakeville. Officials said the man was unhitching a trailer in the driveway and his son watched. He then sent his son inside, but it is unclear if the boy ever went in.

When the father was backing up, he felt a bump and quickly reversed his direction. The boy was lying injured behind the truck, crying. He was taken to a local hospital with a broken pelvis and head injuries. Officials don’t believe the boy was run over, but instead was knocked down.

The accident happend on the shoulder of Interstate 465 in Indianapolis late Wednesday evening.

According to reports, a car had pulled to the right-hand shoulder of the interstate because of a flat tire. A man in a pick-up truck pulled up behind the disabled car and had gotten out of his truck, when his truck was hit by a semitrailer who had drifted onto the shoulder. The driver of the pickup truck was killed, his passenger and a passenger in the other vehicle were taken to a local hospital with injuries, btu were expected to live.

The crash occurred near I-74, on the city’s southeast side, just before midnight.

According to reports, the boy and his parents were attending a birthday party in the 5500 block of Floating Leaf Drive when the accident occurred. Officials said they believe the child’s obstructed view as well as the driver’s obstructed view played a role in the accident and this was an accident.

The child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and died a few days later.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident.

According to reports, the man was in a car that crashed into a tractor trailer truck on the east side of Indianapolis, near Interstate 70. Pictures from the scene showed the car wedged beneath the rear of the truck.

Officials said the truck had been stopped at a red light when the accident occurred. It took officials nearly three hours to clear the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
